The Baltimore Thunder were one of the founding teams in the Eagle Pro Box Lacrosse League (renamed in 1989 to the Major Indoor Lacrosse League), winning the first league championship in 1987 (that's not saying much - there were only 4 teams that first season). Featuring legendary player Gary Gait in its final two seasons, the Thunder played at Baltimore Arena until the franchise moved to Pittsburgh after the 1999 season.
