1975 Portland Timbers Tee
Regular price $34.00 Save $0.00The Story
The Portland Timbers played at Civic Stadium from 1975 to 1982 before eventually folding in 1982. Even though the Portland Timbers were a strong team in the 1980 season, it wasn't enough to keep the white and green in Portland. With players like Mick Hoban & Neil Rioch donning the white and green in Portland, the Portland Timbers should have been able to fill seats. The reality however was much different and with low attendance, the Portland Timbers soon folded and became no more.

Knowing they couldn't compete with the Saints, following the 1984 season, the New Orleans Breakers were forced to find a new home when the season was moved to the fall.
The Breakers had the distinction of being the only team to play for the entire duration of the USFL for three different cities, each season in a different city without relocating mid-season. Unlike many USFL teams, the Breakers never changed their name, logo or colors when they relocated.

1975 Portland Thunder WFL Tee
Regular price $34.00 Save $0.00The Story
The Portland Storm was an American football team in the World Football League based out of Portland, Oregon. When the World Football League was created in October 1973, the Storm was the original New York franchise. When the Boston Bulls merged with New York to become the New York Stars, the original New York entry's draft picks were eventually relegated to Portland. They were the first major league football team based in Portland. They played at Civic Stadium, now known as Providence Park. The team finished the season with an overall record of 7-12-1, tied with Houston-Shreveport for 8th place in the 12-team league and seemingly qualifying them for the playoffs. However, league officials decided to reduce the playoff field to six teams—without telling anyone with the Storm. The Portland Thunder took the Storm's place in 1975 and lasted until the entire WFL folded halfway through their second season. The Thunder's office in downtown closed in October 1975. In 2013, the Arena Football League expanded into Portland, as the Portland Thunder, making many recall the glory days of the Storm/Thunder.

1993 Portland Rage Tee
Regular price $34.00 Save $0.00The Story
The Rage were a classic mom-and-pop operation. They competed in a rather goofy start-up league where ownership ranged from deep-pocketed Major Leaguers like the Buss family in L.A. to an unwanted, league-run club promoted by city employees at Connecticut’s New Haven Coliseum. Bill Conyard’s brother-in-law, a doctor in L.A., signed on as co-owner of the Rage. Tim, of course, would play for the Rage as planned. Bill Conyard’s other son Joe served as the team’s Assistant GM. As RHI’s July 1993 debut approached, the Conyards’ lack of sports management experience showed. With a roster drawn largely from local junior players from the amateur Portland Winter Hawks ice hockey team and fellow alumni from Tim Conyard’s alma mater of St. John’s (MN) University, the Rage found themselves outclassed against bigger, more experienced players in a pre-season tune-up against the Vancouver Voodoo. Off the court, the Rage sold only about 100 season tickets for the 10,000-seat Memorial Coliseum, according to the Portland Business Journal. By contrast, RHI’s Anaheim Bullfrogs club pre-sold 10,000 tickets for their inaugural game the same week. The Rage finished the 1993 season with a 4-10 record under Head Coach Blake Wesley, a former Winter Hawk and NHL vet. John Black took over the Head Coaching duties for the 1994 season. RHI expanded from 12 to 24 franchises and the season lengthened from 14 to 22 games. The 1994 Rage eeked into the playoffs with an 11-10-1 record and then went on an Cinderella run to the RHI Championship Series, where they lost in a two-game sweep to the Buffalo Stampede (15-3-4). Bill Conyard folded the Portland Rage after the 1994 season. Roller Hockey International suspended play after the 1997 season, returned for one last gasp in 1999 after taking a year off, and then disbanded for good.
