The Story
Varsity hockey began at the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 1925, playing first as in independent and then as a Division II team in the 1970s into the 1980s when they were promoted to Division I in 1985. The Nanooks have had their ups and downs since their move to Division I, but the 2022-23 season has truly been one for the ages as the program looks to best their rival in the University of Alaska Anchorage Seawolves as the "rulers of the north."
