Penn State National Champs Football Onesie
The Nittany Lions won their only national championships in program history under longtime Coach Joe Paterno in 1982 and 1986. In ‘82, led by senior QB Todd Blackledge, Penn State defeated the Georgia Bulldogs, 27–23 in the Sugar Bowl to win the school’s first consensus national championship. Four years later, the navy and white were once again in the national spotlight when they defeated the No. 1 ranked Miami Hurricanes in the Fiesta Bowl to take home the National Championship. Thirteen players from that team would go on to get drafted and play in the NFL.
