The Story

A hometown college hockey star at Boston University, O'Callahan was a key member in helping the U.S. team to upset the dominant Soviets and to claim the gold in Lake Placid. Three days prior to Lake Placid, in an exhibition match against the Soviet Union, O'Callahan injured his left knee which forced him out of the opening game against Sweden - a huge loss for the already underdog U.S. team. He returned for the famous Miracle on Ice game against the Soviet Union, where he was a major contributor in the historic win.

He was portrayed by Michael Mantenuto in the 2004 Disney film 'Miracle.'
