The Story

The San Diego Mariners entered the WHA in 1974 after the franchise moved from Cherry Hill, New Jersey. The team name changed, but the Mariners kept the blue, orange and white color scheme from the Knights.

After the 1976-77 season, owner Ray Kroc (of McDonald's fame), who also owned the Padres, sold the team to a group who planned to move it to Florida. However after three failed attempts to secure an arena, the Mariners folded just before training camp opened in the fall of 1977. Fans who put down deposits for season tickets never got their money back.

Crafted with the intention of being the softest shirt in your lineup, our signature tees are made with premium airlume (for softness) and ringspun (for durability) cotton combined with poly to make the perfect tee👌 that wears and feels like a well-worn favorite. Our garments are printed with inks that actually blend into the fabric giving it more character and true vintage look with every wash.
